Psalms 44

For the Chief Musician. By the sons of Korah. A contemplative psalm. We have heard with our ears, God; our fathers have told us what work you did in their days, in the days of old.

प्रधान बजानेवाले के लिये कोरहवंशियों का मश्कील हे परमेश्वर, हमने अपने कानों से सुना, हमारे बापदादों ने हम से वर्णन किया है, कि तूने उनके दिनों में और प्राचीनकाल में क्या-क्या काम किए हैं।

You drove out the nations with your hand, but you planted them. You afflicted the peoples, but you spread them abroad.

तूने अपने हाथ से जातियों को निकाल दिया, और इनको बसाया; तूने देश-देश के लोगों को दुःख दिया, और इनको चारों ओर फैला दिया;

For they didn’t get the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them; but your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, because you were favorable to them.

क्योंकि वे न तो अपनी तलवार के बल से इस देश के अधिकारी हुए, और न अपने बाहुबल से; परन्तु तेरे दाहिने हाथ और तेरी भुजा और तेरे प्रसन्न मुख के कारण जयवन्त हुए; क्योंकि तू उनको चाहता था।

God, you are my King. Command victories for Jacob!

हे परमेश्वर, तू ही हमारा महाराजा है, तू याकूब के उद्धार की आज्ञा देता है।

Through you, we will push down our adversaries. Through your name, we will tread down those who rise up against us.

तेरे सहारे से हम अपने द्रोहियों को ढकेलकर गिरा देंगे; तेरे नाम के प्रताप से हम अपने विरोधियों को रौंदेंगे।

For I will not trust in my bow, neither will my sword save me.

क्योंकि मैं अपने धनुष पर भरोसा न रखूँगा, और न अपनी तलवार के बल से बचूँगा।

But you have saved us from our adversaries, and have shamed those who hate us.

परन्तु तू ही ने हमको द्रोहियों से बचाया है, और हमारे बैरियों को निराश और लज्जित किया है।

In God we have made our boast all day long. We will give thanks to your name forever. Selah.

हम परमेश्वर की बड़ाई दिन भर करते रहते हैं, और सदैव तेरे नाम का धन्यवाद करते रहेंगे। (सेला)

But now you rejected us, and brought us to dishonor, and don’t go out with our armies.

तो भी तूने अब हमको त्याग दिया और हमारा अनादर किया है, और हमारे दलों के साथ आगे नहीं जाता।

You make us turn back from the adversary. Those who hate us take plunder for themselves.

तू हमको शत्रु के सामने से हटा देता है, और हमारे बैरी मनमाने लूट मार करते हैं।

You have made us like sheep for food, and have scattered us among the nations.

तूने हमें कसाई की भेड़ों के समान कर दिया है, और हमको अन्यजातियों में तितर-बितर किया है।

You sell your people for nothing, and have gained nothing from their sale.

तू अपनी प्रजा को सेंत-मेंत बेच डालता है, परन्तु उनके मोल से तू धनी नहीं होता।

You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and a derision to those who are around us.

तू हमारे पड़ोसियों से हमारी नामधराई कराता है, और हमारे चारों ओर के रहनेवाले हम से हँसी ठट्ठा करते हैं।

You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.

तूने हमको अन्यजातियों के बीच में अपमान ठहराया है, और देश-देश के लोग हमारे कारण सिर हिलाते हैं।

All day long my dishonor is before me, and shame covers my face,

दिन भर हमें तिरस्कार सहना पड़ता है, और कलंक लगाने और निन्दा करनेवाले के बोल से,

at the taunt of one who reproaches and verbally abuses, because of the enemy and the avenger.

शत्रु और बदला लेनेवालों के कारण, बुरा-भला कहनेवालों और निन्दा करनेवालों के कारण।

All this has come on us, yet we haven’t forgotten you. We haven’t been false to your covenant.

यह सब कुछ हम पर बीता तो भी हम तुझे नहीं भूले, न तेरी वाचा के विषय विश्वासघात किया है।

Our heart has not turned back, neither have our steps strayed from your path,

हमारे मन न बहके, न हमारे पैर तरी राह से मुड़ें;

though you have crushed us in the haunt of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.

तो भी तूने हमें गीदड़ों के स्थान में पीस डाला, और हमको घोर अंधकार में छिपा दिया है।

If we have forgotten the name of our God, or spread out our hands to a strange god,

यदि हम अपने परमेश्वर का नाम भूल जाते, या किसी पराए देवता की ओर अपने हाथ फैलाते,

won’t God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.

तो क्या परमेश्वर इसका विचार न करता? क्योंकि वह तो मन की गुप्त बातों को जानता है।

Yes, for your sake we are killed all day long. We are regarded as sheep for the slaughter.

परन्तु हम दिन भर तेरे निमित्त मार डाले जाते हैं, और उन भेड़ों के समान समझे जाते हैं जो वध होने पर हैं।

Wake up! Why do you sleep, Lord? Arise! Don’t reject us forever.

हे प्रभु, जाग! तू क्यों सोता है? उठ! हमको सदा के लिये त्याग न दे!

Why do you hide your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?

तू क्यों अपना मुँह छिपा लेता है? और हमारा दुःख और सताया जाना भूल जाता है?

For our soul is bowed down to the dust. Our body clings to the earth.

हमारा प्राण मिट्टी से लग गया; हमारा शरीर भूमि से सट गया है।

Rise up to help us. Redeem us for your loving kindness’ sake.

हमारी सहायता के लिये उठ खड़ा हो। और अपनी करुणा के निमित्त हमको छुड़ा ले।
