Where to come

What actually happens

Reckon on an hour and a half. Nobody minds if you leave early, and nobody will ask you to stand up or introduce yourself.

  1. Arrive

Come in through the main door. Someone will say hello and point you to a seat. The back is a perfectly good place to sit.

  2. Singing

About half an hour. Stand or sit, sing or listen. Nobody is watching what you do.

  3. The message

About forty minutes from the Bible, in English at 9:00 AM and in Hindi and English together at 10:00 AM.

  4. Prayer

People pray for one another. If you would like prayer, say so. If you would rather not, that is fine too.

  5. Lunch

After the 10:00 AM service the church eats together, and most people stay. This is where you actually get to know the church. After the 9:00 AM there is chai.

Things people ask before they come

I've never really been to a church. Will I stand out?

No. People arrive in jeans and in salwar kameez, on foot and on scooters. Sit wherever you like, the back is fine. Nobody will make you stand up or introduce yourself.

What actually happens?

Worship for about forty-five minutes, a message from the Bible for about fifty, testimonies, announcements, and prayer — including prayer for anyone who is unwell. The 9:00 English service is the short one and ends at 10:00. The 10:00 is the main one, running to about 2:00 and finishing with the church eating together. Nobody minds if you slip out early. See a Sunday step by step.

Which service will I understand?

The 9:00 AM is in English. The 10:00 AM moves between Hindi and English, so you can follow it either way. In Chandigarh at 4:00 we do the same. Times and directions.

What about my children?

LOWC Sunday School runs during the Sunday services, with our own volunteers. You sign your child in and you are the only person who can sign them out. You are welcome to stay with them the first time. About LOWC Sunday School.

Will I be asked for money?

Tithes and offerings are received during the service, that is how the church is funded, and our members give willingly. Visitors are not expected to give, and nobody is watching who does. Nothing here, prayer, help, welcome, has ever depended on it. How giving works.

How do I actually get to know people?

Stay and eat. The 10:00 service finishes with the church eating together, and that is where it happens. When you are ready, a Bible study group meets midweek near you, in Hindi or English. Bible study groups.

See you on Sunday.

Or, if it would help to talk to someone first, send a prayer request or call. Someone from the church will answer.
