Job 8

Then Bildad the Shuhite answered,

तब शूही बिल्दद ने कहा,

“How long will you speak these things? Shall the words of your mouth be a mighty wind?

“तू कब तक ऐसी-ऐसी बातें करता रहेगा? और तेरे मुँह की बातें कब तक प्रचण्ड वायु सी रहेगी?

Does God pervert justice? Or does the Almighty pervert righteousness?

क्या परमेश्वर अन्याय करता है? और क्या सर्वशक्तिमान धार्मिकता को उलटा करता है?

If your children have sinned against him, he has delivered them into the hand of their disobedience.

यदि तेरे बच्चों ने उसके विरुद्ध पाप किया है, तो उसने उनको उनके अपराध का फल भुगताया है।

If you want to seek God diligently, make your supplication to the Almighty.

तो भी यदि तू आप परमेश्वर को यत्न से ढूँढ़ता, और सर्वशक्तिमान से गिड़गिड़ाकर विनती करता,

If you were pure and upright, surely now he would awaken for you, and make the habitation of your righteousness prosperous.

और यदि तू निर्मल और धर्मी रहता, तो निश्चय वह तेरे लिये जागता; और तेरी धार्मिकता का निवास फिर ज्यों का त्यों कर देता।

Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would greatly increase.

चाहे तेरा भाग पहले छोटा ही रहा हो परन्तु अन्त में तेरी बहुत बढ़ती होती।

“Please inquire of past generations. Find out about the learning of their fathers.

“पिछली पीढ़ी के लोगों से तो पूछ, और जो कुछ उनके पुरखाओं ने जाँच पड़ताल की है उस पर ध्यान दे।

(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days on earth are a shadow.)

क्योंकि हम तो कल ही के हैं, और कुछ नहीं जानते; और पृथ्वी पर हमारे दिन छाया के समान बीतते जाते हैं।

Shall they not teach you, tell you, and utter words out of their heart?

क्या वे लोग तुझ से शिक्षा की बातें न कहेंगे? क्या वे अपने मन से बात न निकालेंगे?

“Can the papyrus grow up without mire? Can the rushes grow without water?

“क्या कछार की घास पानी बिना बढ़ सकती है? क्या सरकण्डा जल बिना बढ़ता है?

While it is yet in its greenness, not cut down, it withers before any other reed.

चाहे वह हरी हो, और काटी भी न गई हो, तो भी वह और सब भाँति की घास से पहले ही सूख जाती है।

So are the paths of all who forget God. The hope of the godless man will perish,

परमेश्वर के सब बिसरानेवालों की गति ऐसी ही होती है और भक्तिहीन की आशा टूट जाती है।

whose confidence will break apart, whose trust is a spider’s web.

उसकी आशा का मूल कट जाता है; और जिसका वह भरोसा करता है, वह मकड़ी का जाला ठहरता है।

He will lean on his house, but it will not stand. He will cling to it, but it will not endure.

चाहे वह अपने घर पर टेक लगाए परन्तु वह न ठहरेगा; वह उसे दृढ़ता से थामेगा परन्तु वह स्थिर न रहेगा।

He is green before the sun. His shoots go out along his garden.

वह धूप पाकर हरा भरा हो जाता है, और उसकी डालियाँ बगीचे में चारों ओर फैलती हैं।

His roots are wrapped around the rock pile. He sees the place of stones.

उसकी जड़ कंकड़ों के ढेर में लिपटी हुई रहती है, और वह पत्थर के स्थान को देख लेता है।

If he is destroyed from his place, then it will deny him, saying, ‘I have not seen you.’

परन्तु जब वह अपने स्थान पर से नाश किया जाए, तब वह स्थान उससे यह कहकर मुँह मोड़ लेगा, ‘मैंने उसे कभी देखा ही नहीं।’

Behold, this is the joy of his way. Out of the earth, others will spring.

देख, उसकी आनन्द भरी चाल यही है; फिर उसी मिट्टी में से दूसरे उगेंगे।

“Behold, God will not cast away a blameless man, neither will he uphold the evildoers.

“देख, परमेश्वर न तो खरे मनुष्य को निकम्मा जानकर छोड़ देता है, और न बुराई करनेवालों को सम्भालता है।

He will still fill your mouth with laughter, your lips with shouting.

वह तो तुझे हँसमुख करेगा; और तुझ से जयजयकार कराएगा।

Those who hate you will be clothed with shame. The tent of the wicked will be no more.”

तेरे बैरी लज्जा का वस्त्र पहनेंगे, और दुष्टों का डेरा कहीं रहने न पाएगा।”
