Job 16

Then Job answered,

तब अय्यूब ने कहा,

“I have heard many such things. You are all miserable comforters!

“ऐसी बहुत सी बातें मैं सुन चुका हूँ, तुम सब के सब निकम्मे शान्तिदाता हो।

Shall vain words have an end? Or what provokes you that you answer?

क्या व्यर्थ बातों का अन्त कभी होगा? तू कौन सी बात से झिड़ककर ऐसे उत्तर देता है?

I also could speak as you do. If your soul were in my soul’s place, I could join words together against you, and shake my head at you,

यदि तुम्हारी दशा मेरी सी होती, तो मैं भी तुम्हारी सी बातें कर सकता; मैं भी तुम्हारे विरुद्ध बातें जोड़ सकता, और तुम्हारे विरुद्ध सिर हिला सकता।

but I would strengthen you with my mouth. The solace of my lips would relieve you.

वरन् मैं अपने वचनों से तुम को हियाव दिलाता, और बातों से शान्ति देकर तुम्हारा शोक घटा देता।

“Though I speak, my grief is not subsided. Though I forbear, what am I eased?

“चाहे मैं बोलूँ तो भी मेरा शोक न घटेगा, चाहे मैं चुप रहूँ, तो भी मेरा दुःख कुछ कम न होगा।

But now, God, you have surely worn me out. You have made all my company desolate.

परन्तु अब उसने मुझे थका दिया है; उसने मेरे सारे परिवार को उजाड़ डाला है।

You have shriveled me up. This is a witness against me. My leanness rises up against me. It testifies to my face.

और उसने जो मेरे शरीर को सूखा डाला है, वह मेरे विरुद्ध साक्षी ठहरा है, और मेरा दुबलापन मेरे विरुद्ध खड़ा होकर मेरे सामने साक्षी देता है।

He has torn me in his wrath and persecuted me. He has gnashed on me with his teeth. My adversary sharpens his eyes on me.

उसने क्रोध में आकर मुझ को फाड़ा और मेरे पीछे पड़ा है; वह मेरे विरुद्ध दाँत पीसता; और मेरा बैरी मुझ को आँखें दिखाता है।

They have gaped on me with their mouth. They have struck me on the cheek reproachfully. They gather themselves together against me.

अब लोग मुझ पर मुँह पसारते हैं, और मेरी नामधराई करके मेरे गाल पर थप्पड़ मारते, और मेरे विरुद्ध भीड़ लगाते हैं।

God delivers me to the ungodly, and casts me into the hands of the wicked.

परमेश्वर ने मुझे कुटिलों के वश में कर दिया, और दुष्ट लोगों के हाथ में फेंक दिया है।

I was at ease, and he broke me apart. Yes, he has taken me by the neck, and dashed me to pieces. He has also set me up for his target.

मैं सुख से रहता था, और उसने मुझे चूर चूरकर डाला; उसने मेरी गर्दन पकड़कर मुझे टुकड़े-टुकड़े कर दिया; फिर उसने मुझे अपना निशाना बनाकर खड़ा किया है।

His archers surround me. He splits my kidneys apart, and does not spare. He pours out my bile on the ground.

उसके तीर मेरे चारों ओर उड़ रहे हैं, वह निर्दय होकर मेरे गुर्दों को बेधता है, और मेरा पित्त भूमि पर बहाता है।

He breaks me with breach on breach. He runs at me like a giant.

वह शूर के समान मुझ पर धावा करके मुझे चोट पर चोट पहुँचाकर घायल करता है।

I have sewed sackcloth on my skin, and have thrust my horn in the dust.

मैंने अपनी खाल पर टाट को सी लिया है, और अपना बल मिट्टी में मिला दिया है।

My face is red with weeping. Deep darkness is on my eyelids,

रोते-रोते मेरा मुँह सूज गया है, और मेरी आँखों पर घोर अंधकार छा गया है;

although there is no violence in my hands, and my prayer is pure.

तो भी मुझसे कोई उपद्रव नहीं हुआ है, और मेरी प्रार्थना पवित्र है।

“Earth, don’t cover my blood. Let my cry have no place to rest.

“हे पृथ्वी, तू मेरे लहू को न ढाँपना, और मेरी दुहाई कहीं न रुके।

Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven. He who vouches for me is on high.

अब भी स्वर्ग में मेरा साक्षी है, और मेरा गवाह ऊपर है।

My friends scoff at me. My eyes pour out tears to God,

मेरे मित्र मुझसे घृणा करते हैं, परन्तु मैं परमेश्वर के सामने आँसू बहाता हूँ,

that he would maintain the right of a man with God, of a son of man with his neighbor!

कि कोई परमेश्वर के सामने सज्जन का, और आदमी का मुकद्दमा उसके पड़ोसी के विरुद्ध लड़े।

For when a few years have come, I will go the way of no return.

क्योंकि थोड़े ही वर्षों के बीतने पर मैं उस मार्ग से चला जाऊँगा, जिससे मैं फिर वापिस न लौटूँगा।
