The Power of Resurrection

Every morning in Zirakpur, before the autos start and the shutters go up, a mother is already awake, praying over children who are still asleep. She prays because she believes Someone is listening. This message is about why we are sure He is: the tomb is empty, and Jesus is alive.

The Power of Resurrection: A Journey to New Life

Satan thought he had won on Friday, but on Sunday morning the tomb was empty and the story changed forever.

Picture that weekend. Friday evening, the body is wrapped, the stone is rolled across, and guards are posted. The disciples are hiding behind a locked door. Peter is somewhere weeping over his denial. Saturday is silent. Then early on Sunday the women walk to the tomb with spices, wondering who will move the stone for them. The stone is already moved. “He is not here; He has risen.”

We worship a living Christ who conquered death and fulfilled God’s promises. We do not gather on Sunday to remember a good teacher. We gather because He is alive.

Promises of Resurrection

Everything Jesus said about His death and rising came true to the day, which is why you can trust the rest.

1. Fulfilled Promises

Psalm 16:10 says, “You will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay.” Death is temporary. Jesus overcame it.

Matthew 20:19 records Jesus telling His disciples, on the road, before any of it happened: “On the third day he will be raised to life!” He promised to rise on the third day, and He did.

Just as Christ was raised, we too will be raised. So why carry sin, jealousy, and anger into a grave you will not stay in? Live free of them now.

Jesus, the Way, kept His word. He has gone to prepare a place for us, and that gives us hope of eternal life.

1 Corinthians 15:55-57: “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Paul is shouting at death like a man standing over an empty tomb. Sin leads to death, but through the blood of Jesus we have victory.

2. Assurance of Eternal Life

Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die” (John 11:25). Whoever believes in Him will never truly die.

I have stood at gravesides in this city with families in tears. We grieve, yes. But we do not grieve like people who have no hope. This body will perish. Faith in Christ guarantees eternal life beyond it.

Impact of Resurrection

The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the grave is living in you today, so hopelessness has no final say.

1. Hope for the Hopeless

Romans 8:11 says, “If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.” The Spirit that emptied the tomb lives in you. He gives hope and He gives life.

Maybe you are sitting in a dark place today. A broken relationship, a fear you cannot name, a night you thought would never end. The resurrection says the night ends. When you live for Jesus, His promises become real in your walk. So worship Him with purpose, not out of routine. Do not sing on Sunday with your eyes on your phone. Sing like someone who knows the tomb is empty.

2. Empowerment by the Holy Spirit

You owe God everything for your salvation. You did not earn it; He paid for it. So tell your family and your friends what you have found, plainly and without pressure. Some will listen. Some will roll their eyes at the dinner table. Keep loving them anyway. Keep showing them the hope of Christ.

The resurrection is our victory, our hope, and our purpose. Worship the King of Kings, and live for Him.
