Proverbs 3

My son, don’t forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments,

हे मेरे पुत्र, मेरी शिक्षा को न भूलना; अपने हृदय में मेरी आज्ञाओं को रखे रहना;

for they will add to you length of days, years of life, and peace.

क्योंकि ऐसा करने से तेरी आयु बढ़ेगी, और तू अधिक कुशल से रहेगा।

Don’t let kindness and truth forsake you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart.

कृपा और सच्चाई तुझ से अलग न होने पाएँ; वरन् उनको अपने गले का हार बनाना, और अपनी हृदयरूपी पटिया पर लिखना।

So you will find favor, and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

तब तू परमेश्वर और मनुष्य दोनों का अनुग्रह पाएगा, तू अति प्रतिष्ठित होगा।

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding.

तू अपनी समझ का सहारा न लेना, वरन् सम्पूर्ण मन से यहोवा पर भरोसा रखना।

In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

उसी को स्मरण करके सब काम करना, तब वह तेरे लिये सीधा मार्ग निकालेगा।

Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

अपनी दृष्टि में बुद्धिमान न होना; यहोवा का भय मानना, और बुराई से अलग रहना।

It will be health to your body, and nourishment to your bones.

ऐसा करने से तेरा शरीर भला चंगा, और तेरी हड्डियाँ पुष्ट रहेंगी।

Honor the LORD with your substance, with the first fruits of all your increase;

अपनी सम्पत्ति के द्वारा और अपनी भूमि की सारी पहली उपज देकर यहोवा की प्रतिष्ठा करना;

so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.

इस प्रकार तेरे खत्ते भरे और पूरे रहेंगे, और तेरे रसकुण्डों से नया दाखमधु उमड़ता रहेगा।

My son, don’t despise the LORD’s discipline, neither be weary of his correction;

हे मेरे पुत्र, यहोवा की शिक्षा से मुँह न मोड़ना, और जब वह तुझे डाँटे, तब तू बुरा न मानना,

for whom the LORD loves, he corrects, even as a father reproves the son in whom he delights.

जैसे पिता अपने प्रिय पुत्र को डाँटता है, वैसे ही यहोवा जिससे प्रेम रखता है उसको डाँटता है।

Happy is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding.

क्या ही धन्य है वह मनुष्य जो बुद्धि पाए, और वह मनुष्य जो समझ प्राप्त करे,

For her good profit is better than getting silver, and her return is better than fine gold.

जो उपलब्धि बुद्धि से प्राप्त होती है, वह चाँदी की प्राप्ति से बड़ी, और उसका लाभ शुद्ध सोने के लाभ से भी उत्तम है।

She is more precious than rubies. None of the things you can desire are to be compared to her.

वह बहुमूल्य रत्नों से अधिक मूल्यवान है, और जितनी वस्तुओं की तू लालसा करता है, उनमें से कोई भी उसके तुल्य न ठहरेगी।

Length of days is in her right hand. In her left hand are riches and honor.

उसके दाहिने हाथ में दीर्घायु, और उसके बाएँ हाथ में धन और महिमा हैं।

Her ways are ways of pleasantness. All her paths are peace.

उसके मार्ग आनन्ददायक हैं, और उसके सब मार्ग कुशल के हैं।

She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her. Happy is everyone who retains her.

जो बुद्धि को ग्रहण कर लेते हैं, उनके लिये वह जीवन का वृक्ष बनती है; और जो उसको पकड़े रहते हैं, वह धन्य हैं।

By wisdom the LORD founded the earth. By understanding, he established the heavens.

यहोवा ने पृथ्वी की नींव बुद्धि ही से डाली; और स्वर्ग को समझ ही के द्वारा स्थिर किया।

By his knowledge, the depths were broken up, and the skies drop down the dew.

उसी के ज्ञान के द्वारा गहरे सागर फूट निकले, और आकाशमण्डल से ओस टपकती है।

My son, let them not depart from your eyes. Keep sound wisdom and discretion,

हे मेरे पुत्र, ये बातें तेरी दृष्टि की ओट न होने पाए; तू खरी बुद्धि और विवेक की रक्षा कर,

so they will be life to your soul, and grace for your neck.

तब इनसे तुझे जीवन मिलेगा, और ये तेरे गले का हार बनेंगे।

Then you shall walk in your way securely. Your foot won’t stumble.

तब तू अपने मार्ग पर निडर चलेगा, और तेरे पाँव में ठेस न लगेगी।

When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet.

जब तू लेटेगा, तब भय न खाएगा, जब तू लेटेगा, तब सुख की नींद आएगी।

Don’t be afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes;

अचानक आनेवाले भय से न डरना, और जब दुष्टों पर विपत्ति आ पड़े, तब न घबराना;

for the LORD will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being taken.

क्योंकि यहोवा तुझे सहारा दिया करेगा, और तेरे पाँव को फंदे में फँसने न देगा।

Don’t withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it.

जो भलाई के योग्य है उनका भला अवश्य करना, यदि ऐसा करना तेरी शक्ति में है।

Don’t say to your neighbor, “Go, and come again; tomorrow I will give it to you,” when you have it by you.

यदि तेरे पास देने को कुछ हो, तो अपने पड़ोसी से न कहना कि जा कल फिर आना, कल मैं तुझे दूँगा।

Don’t devise evil against your neighbor, since he dwells securely by you.

जब तेरा पड़ोसी तेरे पास निश्चिन्त रहता है, तब उसके विरुद्ध बुरी युक्ति न बाँधना।

Don’t strive with a man without cause, if he has done you no harm.

जिस मनुष्य ने तुझ से बुरा व्यवहार न किया हो, उससे अकारण मुकद्दमा खड़ा न करना।

Don’t envy the man of violence. Choose none of his ways.

उपद्रवी पुरुष के विषय में डाह न करना, न उसकी सी चाल चलना;

For the perverse is an abomination to the LORD, but his friendship is with the upright.

क्योंकि यहोवा कुटिल मनुष्य से घृणा करता है, परन्तु वह अपना भेद सीधे लोगों पर प्रगट करता है।

The LORD’s curse is in the house of the wicked, but he blesses the habitation of the righteous.

दुष्ट के घर पर यहोवा का श्राप और धर्मियों के वासस्थान पर उसकी आशीष होती है।

Surely he mocks the mockers, but he gives grace to the humble.

ठट्ठा करनेवालों का वह निश्चय ठट्ठा करता है; परन्तु दीनों पर अनुग्रह करता है।

The wise will inherit glory, but shame will be the promotion of fools.

बुद्धिमान महिमा को पाएँगे, परन्तु मूर्खों की बढ़ती अपमान ही की होगी।
