Proverbs 14

Every wise woman builds her house, but the foolish one tears it down with her own hands.

हर बुद्धिमान स्त्री अपने घर को बनाती है, पर मूर्ख स्त्री उसको अपने ही हाथों से ढा देती है।

He who walks in his uprightness fears the LORD, but he who is perverse in his ways despises him.

जो सिधाई से चलता वह यहोवा का भय माननेवाला है, परन्तु जो टेढ़ी चाल चलता वह उसको तुच्छ जाननेवाला ठहरता है।

The fool’s talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.

मूर्ख के मुँह में गर्व का अंकुर है, परन्तु बुद्धिमान लोग अपने वचनों के द्वारा रक्षा पाते हैं।

Where no oxen are, the crib is clean, but much increase is by the strength of the ox.

जहाँ बैल नहीं, वहाँ गौशाला स्वच्छ तो रहती है, परन्तु बैल के बल से अनाज की बढ़ती होती है।

A truthful witness will not lie, but a false witness pours out lies.

सच्चा साक्षी झूठ नहीं बोलता, परन्तु झूठा साक्षी झूठी बातें उड़ाता है।

A scoffer seeks wisdom, and doesn’t find it, but knowledge comes easily to a discerning person.

ठट्ठा करनेवाला बुद्धि को ढूँढ़ता, परन्तु नहीं पाता, परन्तु समझवाले को ज्ञान सहज से मिलता है।

Stay away from a foolish man, for you won’t find knowledge on his lips.

मूर्ख से अलग हो जा, तू उससे ज्ञान की बात न पाएगा।

The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.

विवेकी मनुष्य की बुद्धि अपनी चाल को समझना है, परन्तु मूर्खों की मूर्खता छल करना है।

Fools mock at making atonement for sins, but among the upright there is good will.

मूर्ख लोग पाप का अंगीकार करने को ठट्ठा जानते हैं, परन्तु सीधे लोगों के बीच अनुग्रह होता है।

The heart knows its own bitterness and joy; he will not share these with a stranger.

मन अपना ही दुःख जानता है, और परदेशी उसके आनन्द में हाथ नहीं डाल सकता।

The house of the wicked will be overthrown, but the tent of the upright will flourish.

दुष्टों के घर का विनाश हो जाता है, परन्तु सीधे लोगों के तम्बू में बढ़ती होती है।

There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

ऐसा मार्ग है, जो मनुष्य को ठीक जान पड़ता है, परन्तु उसके अन्त में मृत्यु ही मिलती है।

Even in laughter the heart may be sorrowful, and mirth may end in heaviness.

हँसी के समय भी मन उदास हो सकता है, और आनन्द के अन्त में शोक हो सकता है।

The unfaithful will be repaid for his own ways; likewise a good man will be rewarded for his ways.

जो बेईमान है, वह अपनी चाल चलन का फल भोगता है, परन्तु भला मनुष्य आप ही आप सन्तुष्ट होता है।

A simple man believes everything, but the prudent man carefully considers his ways.

भोला तो हर एक बात को सच मानता है, परन्तु विवेकी मनुष्य समझ बूझकर चलता है।

A wise man fears and shuns evil, but the fool is hot headed and reckless.

बुद्धिमान डरकर बुराई से हटता है, परन्तु मूर्ख ढीठ होकर चेतावनी की उपेक्षा करता है।

He who is quick to become angry will commit folly, and a crafty man is hated.

जो झट क्रोध करे, वह मूर्खता का काम करेगा, और जो बुरी युक्तियाँ निकालता है, उससे लोग बैर रखते हैं।

The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

भोलों का भाग मूर्खता ही होता है, परन्तु विवेकी मनुष्यों को ज्ञानरूपी मुकुट बाँधा जाता है।

The evil bow down before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

बुरे लोग भलों के सम्मुख, और दुष्ट लोग धर्मी के फाटक पर दण्डवत् करेंगे।

The poor person is shunned even by his own neighbor, but the rich person has many friends.

निर्धन का पड़ोसी भी उससे घृणा करता है, परन्तु धनी के अनेक प्रेमी होते हैं।

He who despises his neighbor sins, but he who has pity on the poor is blessed.

जो अपने पड़ोसी को तुच्छ जानता, वह पाप करता है, परन्तु जो दीन लोगों पर अनुग्रह करता, वह धन्य होता है।

Don’t they go astray who plot evil? But love and faithfulness belong to those who plan good.

जो बुरी युक्ति निकालते हैं, क्या वे भ्रम में नहीं पड़ते? परन्तु भली युक्ति निकालनेवालों से करुणा और सच्चाई का व्यवहार किया जाता है।

In all hard work there is profit, but the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.

परिश्रम से सदा लाभ होता है, परन्तु बकवाद करने से केवल घटती होती है।

The crown of the wise is their riches, but the folly of fools crowns them with folly.

बुद्धिमानों का धन उनका मुकुट ठहरता है, परन्तु मूर्ख से केवल मूर्खता ही उत्पन्न होती है।

A truthful witness saves souls, but a false witness is deceitful.

सच्चा साक्षी बहुतों के प्राण बचाता है, परन्तु जो झूठी बातें उड़ाया करता है उससे धोखा ही होता है।

In the fear of the LORD is a secure fortress, and he will be a refuge for his children.

यहोवा के भय में दृढ़ भरोसा है, और यह उसकी सन्तानों के लिए शरणस्थान होगा।

The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, turning people from the snares of death.

यहोवा का भय मानना, जीवन का सोता है, और उसके द्वारा लोग मृत्यु के फंदों से बच जाते हैं।

In the multitude of people is the king’s glory, but in the lack of people is the destruction of the prince.

राजा की महिमा प्रजा की बहुतायत से होती है, परन्तु जहाँ प्रजा नहीं, वहाँ हाकिम नाश हो जाता है।

He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a quick temper displays folly.

जो विलम्ब से क्रोध करनेवाला है वह बड़ा समझवाला है, परन्तु जो अधीर होता है, वह मूर्खता को बढ़ाता है।

The life of the body is a heart at peace, but envy rots the bones.

शान्त मन, तन का जीवन है, परन्तु ईर्ष्या से हड्डियाँ भी गल जाती हैं।

He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honors him.

जो कंगाल पर अंधेर करता, वह उसके कर्ता की निन्दा करता है, परन्तु जो दरिद्र पर अनुग्रह करता, वह उसकी महिमा करता है।

The wicked is brought down in his calamity, but in death, the righteous has a refuge.

दुष्ट मनुष्य बुराई करता हुआ नाश हो जाता है, परन्तु धर्मी को मृत्यु के समय भी शरण मिलती है।

Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, and is even made known in the inward part of fools.

समझवाले के मन में बुद्धि वास किए रहती है, परन्तु मूर्ख मनुष्य बुद्धि के विषय में कुछ भी नहीं जानता।

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.

जाति की बढ़ती धर्म ही से होती है, परन्तु पाप से देश के लोगों का अपमान होता है।

The king’s favor is toward a servant who deals wisely, but his wrath is toward one who causes shame.

जो कर्मचारी बुद्धि से काम करता है उस पर राजा प्रसन्न होता है, परन्तु जो लज्जा के काम करता, उस पर वह रोष करता है।
